inception
best cinematic mind eff: inception. whoa! (a la keanu reeves) shar's been dying to see this flick with her lovely leo and jgl. i was shut out on wednesday, but second time's the charm. t and i made it into the theatre with assigned seating (yes, friends they do that over here). the layers of dreams weren't so elaborate that you couldn't understand, like say a lost episode. the cast was brilliantly casted, even though i had my qualms about ellen page going in. she was no katie holmes in batman returns. what really impressed me was jgl's gravity defying fight sequence in dream level 2. reminded me of this. (sorry random video site. nbc hates brits, but there is a treat at the end of this fine video pos. stay tuned. you won't be sorry.)

the xx at somerset house
belated live gig: the xx at somerset house. shar failed to see the xx last fall at a cmj closing party (mike and eric, i saw them finally). it set me back a few £s, but it was worth it since oliver said it would be one of the few times they play their home town in a while. they were real gracious and said how much this gig meant to them and a testament to the last year. they played a little under an hour and most everything off their self-titled debut. they didn't overwhelm me or underwhelm me. it was just right and met my discerning expectations.

efterklang at charlottenborg
best concert timing: efterklang playing the copenhagen jazz festival. shar tends to try her best to attend a concert when in different locales and efterklang playing their home town was a indeed the best concert timing i've had to date. they were set up in the courtyard of charlottenborg place situated in the hopping harborfront of nyhavn. it was a unique location and from the very little danish i know. i think casper was keen on the locale too. they were as lovely live as i had heard. they had the crowd clapping and snapping throughout the show. lastly, could not help myself and got this. won't be able to pay it until i get home to bk tho.that's heather broderick on the far right. she was a pleasant surprise as i know her from horse feathers.
love casper's expression here

hej (again) kobenhavn!
best return: copenhagen! it's been 10 years since shar's been back to copenhagen. my pal angela (who i met studying there) had planned to return for a 10 year anniversary. so here we are a decade later. it's amazing how much came back to us and the old streets we used to bike. it was a little different on foot in the begining of the day, but we managed to snag the last two city bikes in the evening for a trek to my old apartment. care to take a trip down memory lane with shar?
black diamond intieror. shar spent so many hours here. i didn't have my danish library card to gain access. wonder if they would still take it.
my old grocery spot. love me some netto.
leigh-anne! your street and we think your building?

we located your flat because mexibar still stands across the street.

my very first yoga class was taken here.

ang in front of her flat from 10 years ago

think this was my building. can't remember the exact house number.

we've got an artist at my old flat

shawarma pizza at the place across from my flat. it's still standing 10 years later. still cheap and delicious as i remembered it.

lovely view of the lake on the ride back from my old flat to the city center

black rat press - street studio
much belated visit: black rat press. pal christina ray had recommended the good folks at black rat press on my departure of ny, so been meaning to pop by. vandalog clued me in on the street studio book launch, so away shar went.shar was handed an asahi on her way in and she was a happy camper. christina had told me that they repped swoon so happy to see her pieces on the exposed brick of brp's warehouse space. also, happy to find banksy and faile amongst the crew. i was introduced to ghostpatrol who was part of the street studio launch. shar will be back for good street art goodness. that's for sure.
