lotta had an open studio today. twas lovely and she even popped open a bottle of bubbly to toast summer. shar was there for her new cute paper boxes she created together with the japanese company, po om po.

shar had come from fed ex and unexpectedly got a presie larger than expected, but i was able to bike it all back in one piece. hurrah to a successful first bike outing! i haven't taken the good ol' shangra la out since i moved overseas for six months. happy to be cruisin' on her again.

kenneth makes digital assemblages of current issues. he has tackled the environment, the 2010 election and the obama administration. this time kenneth draws from something a little closer to home. his digital prints provide commentary on online censorship in china. this was my fav of all his shows i've seen. the cup runneth over with praise last night. go check it out. up until july 2.

poor buster

worst giants news: buster posey (and shar's fav gman) is out for the season. buster took a mean hit last night against the marlins when it went into extra innings. i watched the footage and it was none too pretty. love the giants fans though for cheering buster up and panda's tweet:

"Good morning I feel so bad because we lost buster for rest of the season it's gonna be hard without him"

it's gonna be rough for the giants to repeat as champs, but who thought a bunch of misfits would win last year? let's do it for buster, boys!

good effort

best effort: san jose sharks. every year shar roots on the sharks and every year they choke. this year the boys were up against the #1 seed in the western conference. after a debacle of a second period in game 4 that included three 3 on 5 power play goals, shar was feeling the choke hold. last night however the sharks gave it a strong effort through not one but two overtimes. good try sharkies! until next year.

dan flavin art institute

best remote fltgc: dan flavin art institute. shar's been dying to hit up this spot since she moved to new york. housed in a former firehouse, flavin's icon fluorescent installations illuminate the quaint unassuming building in southampton. i spent more time travelling there than actually hanging in southampton, but the trek was definitely worth it.

belated remote fltgc: minneapolis sculpture garden. had a run by loring park and back from this lovely oasis of art. reminded me of a smaller storm king.

no sculpture garden is complete without a little richard serra

james blake at lpr

highly anticipated live performance: james blake at le poisson rouge. the wunderkind that has the music blogosphere a buzz was well worth the lines and delayed set time. shar rolled up to lpr with brit pal jenny in tow. the gents in front of us in line already caught a sighting of david bryne and ms. annie clark (aka st. vincent) walk by. drats, that i missed the sighting.

once in, i knew when i saw the short tight dressed ladies in the corner of the bar that this night would be a doozy. nevertheless, active child opened the night was a lovely set that grooved out the crowd. then, there was the wait. and more waiting i was ready for it since lpr tends to hit off late. almost at the 1am mark, james hit the stage and apologized for the delay. little talking between songs but plenty of thank you's. i was bothered by all the chatter through out the set. it threw off my mood and my experience. boy can sang and his talent backs up the buzz. hope to get some vids up shortly, but afraid the extra background chatter might have ruined james's sweet vocals. better pics at bv.
