thanks to joanne i scored tickets to see my giants. it was pablo "panda" sandoval bobblehead day, but alas panda wasn't hitting well. timmy wasn't so hot giving up two in the first inning. he would eventually lose the battle of the tim's (the other being tim hudson.) at least my fav buster posey scored the only run of the night. i've been 0-3 on attended giants games this season. eek!

fltgc: west coast edition

best reason to travel for fltgc: barry mcgee at berkeley art museum and david shrigley at yerba buena center for the arts. it was a bridge and tunnel venture that was best made.

summer pastime

best ny summer pastime: movies with a view at brooklyn bridge park. can't believe how the summer is flying. i had to get in at least one outdoor flick. surprisingly i've never seen barefoot in the park, so it was uber appropriate last night. kicked off my sandals and plopped down for a time tested summer evening.

much belated live perform-ance: amadou and mariam at summer-stage.  i've been a fan for years since i first heard their dimanche à bamako. i missed them last year when they played an intimate set at cooper square hotel penthouse. the wait was worth it on a hot summer's day in new york's central park. the perfect soundtrack for summer.

fltgc: pier 42 - y.kusama

best location specific fltgc: yayoi kusama at pier 42.  i didn't make it to her retro-spective at the whitney but made it to her off site.  there's something whimsical about walking upon red blobs covered in white polka dots.  one can't help but smile.  

call me usa swimming

late to the game on this vid, but love it.  michael phelps even starts it off.  love, love cullen jones repping ny as he slides thru at the 11 sec mark.  missy franklin works it as lead singer on most of the video.  love her coming down the aisle of the plane.  cal alum natalie coughlin choregraphed that sequence.  and yes, i'll call you nathan adrian (1:47).  congrats on your gold in the 100m free! love swim couple rebecca soni and ricky berens at 2:26. totes cutes!  p.s. team gb diving did a vid too.

belated congrats: women's gymnastics team. somehow even watching all that unfold on tape delay was still just as exciting.  it was great to see jordyn wieber anchor the team triumphantly days after missing out on a spot to compete for the all around. with jordyn out, i'm rooting form gaby douglas to take the gold.
