lauryn hill at wolf trap
i haven't attended a show where i haven't been reviewing in a while, but this was deffo one worth savoring. when i think about artists that i would like to see before i leave this world - ms. lauryn hill is one of them. despite her band drowning her vocals out in some instances, she can stick spit the rhymes and encapsulate an audience in the palm of her hand. the best part was on her encore when she brought her mom out and shared how formative her parents' record collection was on her music. sleeping on the floor listening to records because the cord of her headphones couldn't reach her bed. kids just don't understand the times before bluetooth. needless to say the queen is still with us and blessed to have witnessed it live.
