it's taken me a few years to migrate away from goodreads since its ownership by amazon. i joined close to its inception when a friends told me their friends at stanford started the app back in 2007.
i loved keeping track and cataloging past reads, while sharing them with my fellow bookworms. a friend told me about storygraph over 5 years ago, but the idea of migrating all the books, reviews and notes seemed daunting. i started the process back in 2021, but only completed the upload of my goodreads data to storygraph earlier this year. it was relatively painless, and i got one of my core goodreads bookworms to convert as well. this is probably the hardest thing to let go. bookworms that aren't ready to migrate to a new platform. i do like storygraph for the more clean interface and the ability to rate by quarter stars. game changing.
