the first day of spring

notable intimate screening: noah and the whale's the first days of spring at piano's. found out about this screening a few days ago and got saki to come along. i've been digging the latest effort by charlie and the gang. npr's stephen thompson has dubbed it the breakup album of the year and i was curious to see it translated to moving picture.

the film was preceded by a lovely vincent moon shot video of the boys playing a brooklyn loft.



The First Days of Spring Official Trailer from charlie fink on Vimeo. the screening was followed by a q&a with charlie, tom and urby and hosted by john norris (yup, the same john norris of mtv). shar speculated that laura marling had inspired the new album and after a little interweb research i found it to be true. i'm really glad i didn't ask. weird how times flies. it was a year ago that i was hoping laura would be at natw's first brooklyn gig. laura didn't seem too heartbroken when i saw her a week ago. poor charlie! he did have some musican lovin' come his way. i spotted simon of fanfarlo in the back watching the screening.
