must break from madness stress: anything goes. it was a rough afternoon with three losses that were by 1 or 2 points. tourney is turning out some nail biters of games. shar turned some good ol' classic musical action in anything goes starring tony winner sutton foster, joel grey (jennifer's dad) and jesssica walter (aka lucille bluth). i've always admired the pipes on ms. foster since hearing her in thoroughly modern millie. she did not disappoint live. in fact, i admire her more because she truly is a triple threat - dancing, singing and acting. the tap sequence in the anything goes number is true old school hollywood goodness. go see it! runs until july 31st at the stephen sondheim theatre.
best belated musical: jersey boys. shar been meaning to see this musical and funny that she watched it abroad. my brother's in town so we hit the west end for this 2006 tony winning musical. it was just what i was expecting. hit after hit. it had me up dancing by the end of it. i love me some frankie valli. didn't know all the drama behind the group and just made me love them more. kinda bummed i missed him live last year in celebrate brooklyn.
must stamp of approval: glee cast on npr. shar hearts glee and so does the world apparently. i find myself just wanting them to sing and no need for plot. it's a treat to hear the behind the scenes tidbits from cast members lea michele, corey monteith and ai reject amber riley on xpn. no live renditions, but they did give insight on the process of how a song is picked for the show.
