niners win!

i'm still coming off all the emotions of last night's game.  george kittle down in the first half with an achilles tear. OUCH! niners can't ever have a game where a major player doesn't go out.  it was looking grim, but the d was keeping us in it. resilience is the key word of this season. there was a fab trick play, where jauan jennings threw to christian mccaffery for a touchdown. a throwback to super bowl LVIII. so here we are headed to seattle next weekend.  win or lose i'm proud of these boys for this gritty season.  can the magic continue one more weekend? we should have trent but down kittle. it would be great to have ricky pearsall back, but it was great to see demarcus robinson step up. anyhow, it's deffo been a bang bang niner gang season.

niners to nfc championship game

photo: espn

in truth i was only able to watch a bit of the 3rd quarter and the culminating 4th. i'm a little thankful i didn't have to watch that first half, but from the few highlights i saw the rain was effecting brock. apparently, this happened against the browns too. i missed the deebo hit that took him out early. it felt like a groundhog day experience from week 6, BUT the niners persevered and i was elated (though my heart could barely take it). i did witness both of dre greenlaw's HUGE interceptions. man did i miss him and so glad he was able to go yesterday.  the defense kept the packers to field goals in the first half which was pivotal. green bay's rookie kicker anders carlson missed a 42-yd field goal late, which gave the niners the momentum to push for that conclusive winning drive. wow, brock!  after a pretty rough game, you were able to put it together when it counted the most. bravo! so we play the lions on sunday in the nfc championship.  i'm glad all the niners acknowledged their mistakes and so much to work on this week leading into the big game. bang bang niner gang!

niners win

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

i was nervous going into this game and some fellow faithfuls asked why. well it seems like a game, where is seems too easy.  that first half got me worried that the d hadn't practiced, but the second half was another story.  i forget that opponents o-line tend to tire out against the onslaught of out relentless defense.  then seattle started to beat themselves with penalties.  that was game. so now we wait for tomorrow's night's winner from the cowboys-bucs match up.

niners WIN!

it was a nail-biter, just as their previous monday night match-up with the seahawks. we had a commanding 13-0 lead going into the half, but we faithful know that's certainly not enough against one, russell wilson. hanging by a 26-21 lead with less than 2 minutes left, wilson went to town, BUT failed to get a touchdown with 8 tries. sure there was a questionable PI that was missed and a delay of game penalty, but come on it's unfathomable that the niners were able to make 8 stops in the final minute. it was fitting that a rookie drew greenlaw stopped jacob hollister inches from the goal line. this season has been about our excellent defense and our deep roster. for a rookie to make such a game winning play, BRAVO!

so we get a bye and hopefully get back jaquiski tartt and dee ford in 2 weeks. we will probably have a rematch with seattle unless the eagles have something to say about that. until then i'll savor a few of these milestones:

13-3 best finish since 2011
5-1 record against the NFC west, not since 2013 have we achieve that
7-1 on the road, best since 1992
we won in seattle!!! last time was 2011

NFC champs!!!! (first time since 2012)

this team feels special, but i hoping i'm not jinxing it...

thanks niners!

what can I say after staying up until 3am in lisbon prior to my morning flight? the game that was tauted as a tight one came down to the final seconds. unfortunately kaep's throw into the end zone to crabtree was deflected by our most hated enemy, richard sherman. i actually thought kaep was the better quarterback even though he threw a pick. he showed a decent drive in the final hours.

don't even get me started on the refs. two major missed calls, including one where bowman clearly had the ball before tweaking his leg uber bad. makes me sad that he won't get to play in the pro bowl. the defense was amazing and wanna say better than seattle, having stopped not one but two deep in the red zone touchdown possibilities. our boys played their hearts out. i'll obviously be rooting for the broncos because seeing those cocky seahawks win a super bowl will hurt my heart of hearts.

niners win!

holy moly that was close. too close. torturous, but here we are on our way to carolina. if the saints knock of seattle and we take care of the panthers, there might be one more game at ol' candlestick. we might get a little payback for our "loss" to the saints in the regular season too. for now, let's breathe and relish this playoff victory in the cold, cold tundra.

perfect farewell to the stick - niners win!

everyone was nostalgic last night. as if niners fans haven't been tortured enough we were close to losing our final game at candlestick until navarro bowman came up with a pick six. he'd just let an onside kick go by him only to have it recovered by the falcons in niner territory. we were looking at a loss or some overtime, but the stick provided a little magic last night. check out the thing of beauty above.

coach harbaugh said, "that's the best thing I've ever seen happen in a football game." and on his birthday nonetheless. he said it was the best birthday present, second to being born.

okay boys, no rest for the weary. let's focus and get ready to close out the regular season against the red hot cards sunday and get that final win.

niners win!!!

so colin kaepernick broke the rushing record by a quarterback in his first playoff appearance. 181 yards! more than the green bay packers put up in rushing for the game. so it was victories for the harbaugh brothers, it was back to respective conference championship. the quest for 6 continues january 20.

niners win!

why does clinching a playoff spot not feel as satisfying as it should?  maybe daisy is rubbing off on me.  okay that first half was amazing last night.  randy moss catching the first td at foxborough was pretty sweet. (i actually missed that live since i was partaking in a ladies only holiday feast.)  faithful fans, that second half was a doozy.  we all know tom brady is a robot and is always on a mission to destroy leads, but thankfully our defense stuffed him in the final minutes.  this sunday in prime time again, we will square off against division rivals, the seattle seahawks. we are off a big win and let's hope we have enough for another one to clinch the division.

niners win!!!!

it was a nail biter and i'll probably wake up tomorrow a little hoarse, but who's got it better than us?  NOBODY! (made sure brooklyn knew that by waving my niners flag down atlantic avenue)

niners win!

26-0 shutout over the rams sends my niners into the playoffs after a looooong nine year drought.  only sad point is that i wasn't able to call my mom's to celebrate.  she's being awesome in asia.

nfl wildcard wrap-up

most in need of a hug from shar: chad pennington. shar hearts chad and was uber happy when he beat his former team, the jets, last week. too bad he wasn't as fab this week, throwing 4 interceptions. OUCH! it's okay shar still hearts you. come here and let's hug it out.

reason shar should eat her words: arizona 30, atlanta 24. so in a post last week, shar might have said something about the cardinals being unworthy of representing the NFC west. yeeeah, they kinda came through yesterday. i was not expecting that at all. so glad pigskin pick'ems end after the regular season.

sorely missed game of the weekend: san diego versus indy. sad, sad i missed this must see match-up. i blame swoon and lbb. all i saw was LT warming up at qualcomm. heard he didn't play the second half, but it came down to OT and a 22-yard touchdown run for darren sproules. wish i saw how it all panned out.

better than expected performance: minnesota vikings. with most of their defensive line out, i was expecting brian westbrook to run wild this game. they were able to contain him for most of the game until he got that 71-yard TD in the fourth. good try vikings. shar's looking forward to next weekend's match-up between the giants and eagles.
