i have always wanted to go to a taping of wait wait don't tell me. i'd been an avid listener since college and still regretting not being able to see carl kasell in the flesh. i once tried to tie a work trip to chicago with a taping. needless to say i say it didn't line up but tonight i caught the tail end of the taping at bam. some of my fave panelist were on - mo rocca, paula poundstone and faith salie. just got in on the limericks and saw the full lightening round. can't wait to hear it this weekend.

i know it was coming, but i was in denial. carl kasell is retiring this spring, which means the sweet, sweet dulcet tones of his voice will be missing from wait, wait don't tell me. i'll have to get one of these to hold me through.

do you collect setlists?

stumbled upon this article about collecting setlists by npr's bob boilen. it makes me wanna dig through my old journals for them. i once got half a coldplay setlist back in 2001. i ended up giving it to the other person with the other half. i treasure a setlist i got from a little joy show a few years back. though it wasn't for me, i once managed to grab a killers setlist for my best friend, mostly because i was taller than the prepubescent lot in front of me.it makes me smile when i see it framed in her apartment.

i'm sure tons of people have seen this but too cutes not to share again. i love damian kulash holding back laughter at the 2:44 mark. always had a huge crush on him.

i was late on discovering the delightful twosome of boy. they recently played a sold-out bowery ballroom. missed that ticket too.

can't wait to see them on march 23 and this little story on npr jazzed up my excitement. the video for efterklang's "sedna" (above) is shot in the vein of a rineke dijkstra portrait. don't you think?

i'm bummed to miss them when they open for indians at mercury lounge next month. it's a case of wrong coast at wrong time.  :(  if you folks enjoy, you should go to marc show and make shar uber jealous.

best cure for the winter blues: odesza. discovered this seattle outfit listening to kexp this am. perfect to thaw out the winter as new york's temps slowly rise. also been digging indians' somewhere else, which you can stream on npr.  for immediate defroasting, listen to odesza below.

ocean roar

npr has really created a gem with this field recording with mount eerie. reminds me a little of the wes anderson aesthetic.
