best video birthday presie: the xx covering modjo's "lady" which was the jam when i lived in copenhagen over 10 years ago. then the extra special cameo with jessie ware mashing in stardust's "music sounds better with you" = amazeballs! here's the xx take on the collab.

belated live gig: the xx at somerset house. shar failed to see the xx last fall at a cmj closing party (mike and eric, i saw them finally). it set me back a few £s, but it was worth it since oliver said it would be one of the few times they play their home town in a while. they were real gracious and said how much this gig meant to them and a testament to the last year.

they played a little under an hour and most everything off their self-titled debut. they didn't overwhelm me or underwhelm me. it was just right and met my discerning expectations.
