must fltgc (upper east side edition): yoshitomo nara and lee friedlander. thank goodness for day offs after turkey day. been dying to hit up the asia society's exhibit featuring yoshitomo nara: nobody's fool. sad to have missed his open studio at the end of the summer at the park avenue armory, but was happy to see the playful installation of windows and doors that framed the cute and disturbing works of mr. nara.from there i had to catch lee friedlander: america by car before it closed this sunday. the stark black and white photos of americana span the deserts of california to the bridges of new york. i especially enjoyed the juxtaposition of the rear mirror images against the vantage of the driver's seat. most memorable was the overpass reflection against the exterior of the new york, new york hotel in las vegas. it made me long for a road trip. alas, no wheels to be had.
