best bedside travel: the sweet life in paris. david lebovitz's autobiography of his transition into the parisan life was just the perfect travel literature on this snowy brooklyn day. shar got her yoga and trader joe's run in before cozy up indoors to devour the pages of slp. (fitting that david mentioned both as his to do's on his trip back to sf). my pal jeanie, who is a sf bay areaian, recommended david's blog and from there i put slp on my book queue at the library.

wrapped in my a.p.c. shawl for additional frenchy immersion, i finished this book in a couple hours. shar hasn't completed such a feat in quite a few years. the book is a breezy, comical read, which i highly recommend to lovers of paris, chocolate, san francisco and general escapist non-fiction (think david sedaris meets anthony bourdain with a sprinkle of alice waters). from line cutting to dreaded last minute visitors, david seems to put his personal je ne sais quoi to each story.

i love how he rationalizes salted butter in baking because i have been scolded for such an act. thanks david for making me feel better about my baking choices and providing a lovely saturday afternoon.

freebie of the day: acl hotel motel keychain. so since shar's moved to ny i've been sented to a few spots to procure random items for my friend caes back in the bay. a few trips to supreme. even a trip to been to alife and dqm prior to my residency. see a trend here? well, the most recent acquisition was a bit more my vintage, kitschy style.

belated realization: sharock featured on brooklyn vegan. shar was just going over her google analytics stats and realized she was getting hits from bv. so shar did some reaserch. lo and behold she was quoted on bv a month ago. whoa! can they pay her now? shar takes concert tickets for payment. :)

to follow or not to follow

tortured question of the day: request to follow or not. okay, haven't posted the widget to show how many followers i have namely because shar has so few. sad but true. i do know that people read my blog thanks to google analytics, the few comments i get from time to time and my random friends that say they read it on your blog. what made me rethink posting the widget was a comment i got today from m, who has an awesome blog. lightbulb! there are other rad people from all over reading about my little life. so if you are inclined, become a follower of mine. hit the follow button on the left column. don't worry i'm not a cult or anything. i just broadcast sunshine, sad songs and shar.
