the madness

and so i come to the end of the road. i really should learn my lesson about going with the jayhawks. it's an interesting final four with the oregon ducks, out of nowhere south carolina, the zags (in the final four!) and unc's tar heels. i'm pretty much game for any of these four except the latter. can't wait for saturday.

let the madness restart

i haven't filled out a bracket in 5 years largely because my previous gentleman's bets with a former colleague are no longer. last year i was in the throws of an incredible and eventual championship ending warriors run. it's not to say i'm not going to follow my dubs as they chase a repeat. i remember getting soaked up in the madness post-college (i went to a division 4 school) while working at my local cbs station. games watched at our desks and then running to the news room when games got tight as a cinderella emerged. ahh those were the days! somehow i am coming back. i haven't been following any of the tournies leading up to selection sunday, but i'm going on my fading memory and gut on old faves. so here it is in all it's glory. let's go jayhawks! you helped me win in 2008 and my geek out.

late to the madness

i was late to the madness again. i have no idea what's happening so me winning that billion dollars from warren buffet.  anyhoot, i have no idea what's up with undefeated wichita state and surprised to see home state cal poly up against them. this will probably be my worst outing for bracketology, but here we go.  my coworker rashard just let me know the center for the jayhawks is out the first two games. sigh!

madness!!!

i have not been paying attention at all, so these picks are totally based on previous showings in the torney. per usual, i'll be entering into a gentleman's bet with my coworker rashard. no $$$ exchange just bragging rights in the end, though rashard is always nice and doesn't gloat.

congrats wildcats!

though i started late to the dance, the wildcats pulled it out for me and my other fav (though i didn't pick them for my final two), the kansas jayhawks, were formidable opponents.

late to the dance

first time in years since i missed the opening of march madness.  i blame being overseas.  i was able to catch up this weekend and most of friday.  how about them bonnies up until they lost steam, and what up lehigh taking out duke.  loved it!  i'm looking forward to more buzzer beaters.  sweet sixteen here i come.

march madness finale disappointment

worst march madness final: butler 41, uconn 53. shar was psyched for some cinderelly action but unfortunately the shots weren't dropping for butler. and if you watched it, it was none too pretty. dare i say superbad. i haven't seen so many falls and flailing arms in the years i've watched the tourney. bulter was shooting 18% for the night and uconn a little better with 34%. i must now quote my friend richard's text from last night, "i play higher scoring games in the street". this was the little reprieve i received in the night. for a tourney that produced great upsets and no #1s in the final, it was a great disappointment that not even one shining moment could uplift me.

let the madness begin

every year my coworker rashard and i play our march madness "it's all about pride" challenge. no money is exchanged, just bragging rights and a handshake at the end of the tourney. this year we have robin and gustavo joining which should make things interesting. robin recently fell in love with the madness and well gustavo is from brazil, so it's all new to him. prediction: g takes it with beginner's luck. tomorrow, noon est. hoops and tears! let the drama unfold.

consolation prize

my streak for picking champs ended a few weeks ago, but i did manage to take the pacific standard tourney. this also takes the sting off the blue devils winning. ugh!

doh!

biggest upset: n. iowa defeats overall #1 seeded kansas. there goes my backet.

madness begins!

shar apologizes in advance for my inability to focus. between keeping track of below and sxsw, i am otherwise occupied. this year i've reprise my challenge with my coworker rashard and joined the pacific standard group.

tar heels = ncaa champs

underwhelming ncca championship: north carolina defeats michagan state. even though i had nc as my winner on my bracket, a lil bit of me was rooting for the underdog and izzo. too bad they didn't have enough to overtake the powerhouse that is tar heel tradition. well, i have been on a roll with my picks for champs in the big dance. three in a row. correction: i think rashard won our head to head bracketology showdown tho. thanks to jason for battering and frying up some chicken for the ultimate championship dinner. mmmmmm!

dangit wake forest!

muck up in the madness: cleveland state upsets wake forest. there goes my bracket. my midwest region is shot. :(

john, maybe it's because i didn't pick ucla to get out of the first round. march madness karma? darn, rashard wins. i don't think i can come back from this hit.

ahhh well, tis the madness that comes with march. i will still enjoy watching more upsets hopefully. jason, you ready?

bracketology 101

ohhhh march madness, how i love thee. i thought for kicks i'd post last year's backet.

and, here is this year's which i'm not as confident about, but it's the craziness of the tourney i suppose. i am hoping for some crazy overtimes and last second half court buzzer winning shots. BRING IT!

let the madness begin!

must college sporting viewing: march madness. i'm not much of a fan of college sports, but when it comes to men's basketball i'm in a zone. i've always loved it more than the nba. it's sooo unpredictable. a mix of inexperience and the sudden death tourney is a recipe for mad sporting drama. men cry! the games leading up to selection sunday have been steller, especially with syracuse's upset of uconn over the span of six overtimes. i cannot wait for tip off on thursday. i will be repeating my faceoff with my coworker rashard. let's hope i can keep up my win streak.
