best concert timing: efterklang playing the copenhagen jazz festival. shar tends to try her best to attend a concert when in different locales and efterklang playing their home town was a indeed the best concert timing i've had to date. they were set up in the courtyard of charlottenborg place situated in the hopping harborfront of nyhavn. it was a unique location and from the very little danish i know. i think casper was keen on the locale too. they were as lovely live as i had heard. they had the crowd clapping and snapping throughout the show. lastly, could not help myself and got this. won't be able to pay it until i get home to bk tho.

music vid weekend wrap-up

must make-up for lack of music vids posting: sorry friends! the lack of interweb in my flat has drastically caused me to neglect posting vids i've come across. so here are a few shar's stumbled upon that i've found to be noteworthy.



sad shar got shut out of their gig at barfly this past thursday and couldn't make their gig at rough trade the day before because of bss. wish i ran into this session. looks like it was outside victoria park. thanks mie for cluing me in.



belated discovery: patrick watson with the late, great lhasa covering elliot smith's "between the bars". another great fiume night session by vincent moon.


OMG! in my bk hood, would have loved to walk by them filming. funny saw horse feathers at union hall over a year back. hope to catch up with them at the end of the road fest.


also hope to catch the antlers at the aforementioned fest. looks like they filmed a black cab session in my new hood, N1 (that's islington non-uk friends)

it's overcast in manhattan and dreary. this npr sesh by horse feathers gets me in the right mood.

horse feathers, rosewood thieves and small sur @ union hall

best pre-concert activity: faux-fireplace time at union hall. jason and i snaked this primo spot yesterday and the gang reaped the benefits of the hearth.
must soundtrack for this blistery weather: horse feathers, rosewood thieves and small sur. all three bands are special shar finds. small sur was one thanks to npr's second stage. their track "everyone" stuck with me since late october. the haunting beginnings, "oh everyone, oh everyone" seem to come out of my lips randomly in the day. they rocked the basement of union hall with their mellow folk.

next up was rosewood thieves, who found me on myspace. i'm not a huge adder of random bands, but something about their tunes got to me. maybe it's their rollicking sound. also doesn't mackenzie on keys look like shelley duvall? (mike pointed that out.) and i think that lead vocalist erick resembles alex turner from artic monkeys and the last shadow puppets.

the headliner horse feathers was an absolute treat. i've been keeping an eye on them since i heard their sesh on daytrotter. omr compared them to iron & wine which is pretty spot on. lead justin ringle lulls sweet lyrics to tenderly strummed acoustic guitar, with backing strings and sometimes saw. he is another justin after my indie rock heart's of heart.
