andalucia leg 2: antequera - malaga

we were lucky to get clear days until up day 3 of our trip. rain had been forecasted for the whole week of our trek through andalucia (bookended by lisbon). after top tourist cities sevilla and ronda, we ended up in the quaint (blast back in time) city of antequera. angela and i love to go off the beaten path and were relieved to finally shake of the korean tour groups.

we spent most of our day in malaga at the museo carmen thyssen málaga, the museo picasso málaga and picasso's birthpace.

this made me miss the left coast

down the street to the drawing center, where unfortunately they don't allow photos. tony highlighted the leon golub show, live & die like a lion, but i was more enthralled by the exhibit across the street by dorothea tanning. her sketches of costumes for the famed choreographer george balanchine are whimsical with a touch of mutant qualities.

last up was a fav of fltgc, team gallery for the latest show by norwegian gardar eide einarsson's large scale black and white paintings.

fltgc: ned vena and shepard fairey

newbies to fltgc: ned vena at clifton benevento and shepard fairey collab with deitch. first up was clifton benevento, open only for a month. i was a little bummed i missed the whimsical opening exhibit big apple, instead i saw ned vena's grand pieces utilizing linens and acid-etched mirrors. in the new space, it's an interesting installation that included stitching over electrical outlets.

there's a bloody mary brunch this sunday at clifton benvento from noon to 5pm.
